A New Restaurant at
Billingshurst Business Park
McDonald’s hopes to be the latest addition to the Billingshurst Business Park after a planning application was submitted by business park owners, Dunmoore Group in September. The reference for the planning application is DC/21/2206.
We think this is an exciting opportunity to bring new local jobs and investment to Billingshurst, and to support the village through our grassroot initiatives.
65 New Jobs
Our new restaurant will create in excess of 65 new jobs for local people at Billingshurst with a range of full and part time positions.
Based on statistics gathered in 2017, McDonald’s contributed a total of 135 jobs to the wider Horsham area. A new restaurant in Billingshurst will deliver a range of full and part time employment opportunities to different age groups
Working in the community
McDonald’s strive to make a positive impact in areas where we work. For example, McDonalds’ partnership with the four UK football associations has helped to provide hundreds of free sessions of football delivered across the UK.
Local franchisees are encouraged to support local charities and we would love to know more about existing charities in Billingshurst.
Management opportunities
New jobs at Billingshurst Business Park include management opportunities for ongoing career progression. 9 in 10 of McDonald’s Business Managers started with us as crew members, whilst 1 in 3 of our executive team started their career in one of our restaurants.
Supporting apprentices
By 2025 we will have supported over 3,000 apprentices across our UK restaurants.
Supporting Horsham’s economy
in 2017 McDonald’s contributed £2 million gross value added to Horsham’s economy. A new restaurant at Billingshurst will continue to support the local economy.
Supporting the regional economy
In 2017 alone McDonald’s contributed £3.4bn to the UK economy, with £406m coming from the South East (excluding London).
Striving towards net zero
By 2030 we want to achieve net zero emissions for all of our restaurants and offices in the UK. By 2040 we want to achieve net zero throughout our entire business and value chain, working with our suppliers and franchisees to have a positive impact on climate.
Local highway network
As part of the application, we have been engaging with the county highway authority, who make sure that there will be no significant impact on local roads from our proposals. After assessing the application, it has been confirmed that highways raise no objection to the scheme.
Looking after the local environment and reducing litter
McDonald’s are committed to keeping the area around their Billingshurst Business Park restaurant clean and tidy. All our restaurants are equipped with recycling facilities for customers dining inside and waste bins around the restaurant for those heading to the car park.
By 2024, all customer packaging will be made from renewable or recyclable material.
McDonald’s is a founding partner of Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Where You Live campaign and our team will conduct a minimum of three daily litter picks for all litter within a 150m vicinity of the site.
McDonald’s has also recently partnered with LitterLotto to discourage littering. LitterLotto is an app where people can win prizes by binning their litter.
